About Us

We have been worshiping as a church since 1887, having moved to our current location in 1957.

Christ Episcopal Church is located in Bradenton, on Florida’s West Coast

We are a community where we genuinely love the Lord and our traditions, while honoring Christ’s command to love one another. We seek to live out our Baptismal Covenant, proclaiming the Gospel, seeking and serving Christ in all persons, respecting the dignity of every human being and striving for justice and peace.

We are a people of commitment – to our church, as we know it now, and to a future of possibilities.  We are a parish family with strong ties to the surrounding community.

Our Beliefs

The Episcopal Church is a “bridge” church in Christianity with elements of both the Catholic and Protestant traditions. We are catholic in that we see God’s actions toward us through a seven-fold sacramental system, which has been a part of the Church through the ages. (…Catholic merely means universal, a part of the One Church, the Body of Christ, of which all baptized persons are members…). We are protestant in that our catholic heritage has been refined by the principles of the English Reformation in the 16th century.

Christ Church is rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and guided by the principles of love, justice, and service. We believe in the power of prayer the importance of scripture, and the sacred duty of care for one another. Our worship is a celebration of faith that combines rich traditions with modern expressions of praise. We are dedicated to fostering a personal relationship with God and living out of our faith in ways that inspire and transform.

    • The Bible is recognized as the foundation of our faith, containing all things necessary for salvation. It is understood through the lens of history, tradition, and human intelligence.

    • The Creeds: The Church affirms the Apostles’ Creed (used at baptism) and the Nicene Creed (used at communion) as the basic statements of Christian belief.

    • The Sacraments Baptism, Confirmation, Communion, Reconciliation, Matrimony, Holy Unction (anointing the sick), and Holy Orders (Bishops, Priests, Deacons).
